This was a 13 week project. In the project, we needed to set up a blog however, we had the freedom to pick our theme. Despite being discouraged from setting up a food blog due to the disadvantageous fact that there were many popular and locally recognised food blogs out there, we went ahead of it. Thus there was a certain high level of difficulty trying to stand out against blogs such as IEatIShootIpost, LadyIronChef, Miss Tam Chiak and the list goes on. While analysing the different popular food blogs, we realised that there were not much vlogs on food. Thus we decided to have a fusion of a blog and vlog incorporating the best of both worlds. In our vlogs, we also incorporated an element of fun. In the competition, we were tied for 1st place, however ultimately a point was awarded to the other team to break the tie. This competition was also featured on places like yahoo news and the smart local and others.
Through this project, we learnt how to make use of strategies from marketing such as guerrilla warfare, helping us gain an edge and stand out. We were also able to apply concepts and skills we have learnt in school such as appropriate layouts for the theme, writing styles, planning a storyboard, scriptwriting and many more. Skills such as videography and video-editing also came in extremely useful, helping us gain an edge. In the blog, we also became teachers, sharing knowledge on how one can run a successful blog.
